The Baby-Step Approach to Un-cluttering

The Fly Lady, a well known professional organizer, recommends that you start your un-cluttering and organizing by cleaning the kitchen sink. Wash and dry all the dishes in the sink and scrub it until it shines. Declare your sink the focal point of your un-cluttering process.

Next, move from the sink focal point in the kitchen to un-cluttering other areas in the kitchen, take just one baby-step; one small area at a time. Set aside about 10 to 15 minutes each day to clear the counters, the table, and the cabinets.

You don’t have to start with the kitchen. You can begin your baby-steps in your living room, your bedroom, or your bathroom. Just choose a spot and clear it. The next day, clear another space near that cutter-free area. And be diligent on keeping each clutter-free area clear as you continue the process.
